Happy Third Birthday Corbin

It was fun celebrating Corbin's birthday last week at the park by their home. This photo is of Corbin and the playdough monster he made while he and I were spending time together. He loves all kinds of ball - but his favorite is basketball. He's great at riding his new bike, he loves everything Spiderman, he's very gentle with babies, and he loves to sing. The other day Corbin sang "I'm trying to be Like Jesus" for the whole family - and he sang every word perfectly. It was so sweet - and he is such a sweet (and funny) #3 grandson. Happy Birthday Corbin.

Come to Dixie Aubree!

My niece, Aubree, left Davis High to travel to southern Utah for a campus tour at Dixie State, and to try out for a talent scholarship. She did a great job on her audition (she even sang in French and Russian) - and she was offered a scholarship on the spot! We took her all over campus and introduced her to a bunch of students, faculty and staff and they all gave her a taste of "The Dixie Spirit" that the school is famous for. I loved having her and my sister, Julie, here for a girls weekend together. Aubree also tried out at SUU the next day - and they want her too! I upped the stakes, though and told her I'd make her the star of my publications and maybe even find a spot for her on a billboard if she chose Dixie! How would it be to be so popular?

Tommy at State Tournament

My nephew, Tommy Barrett, played a great game at the state high school 5A basketball tournament (Viewmont beat Spanish Fork in overtime). It brings back great memories of my high school days watching Viewmont High basketball (and letting my little brothers, Brent and Glenn tag along). Now Brent's son Tommy is playing for Viewmont. Brent emailed me and said, "It has now been 40 years since Viewmont came from way down to upset Spanish Fork in the first round when you were a sophomore and Bob was a senior. How cool is that, that the same scenario happened yesterday!" By the way, Tommy scored 19 points (17 in the 2nd half).

Snow at Kolob

What Happened to our Cabin?

Looks like it will be a while before we can get in to the cabin this year - and more snow is expected tonight! But after the last five or six years of drought, how can we complain? It's too bad we're not cold weather people - the snowmobiling is great up there now!

Onward Viewmont Vikings!

Scott and I took a trip to Bountiful to watch my nephew Tommy play in the Viewmont vs. Weber High basketball game. It was so nice of Tommy to be the star of the game —just for us, of course — he scored 28 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, had 4 blocks, and several steals and assists (Brent, did I get all the stats right?). We've always had a soft spot in our hearts for Tommy, and it was great to be with my Mom & Dad, my sister Julie, my brother Brent and my nephew Brady cheering for my alma mater again.

Birthday Fun

I had my 22nd birthday a few weeks ago (since I started going back down after 39). Shellie, George and Abby came up and Kenny's family joined us for dinner at Benja's Thai and Sushi. The kids did great - until the end when Abby started getting a little antzy - then Corbin and Bailey danced for her to keep her happy. She got laughing pretty good at that!
